In osteoarthritis, natural synovial fluid loses its rheological properties — it becomes thinner, less elastic and lubricates cartilage less effectively. Orthovisc contains sodium hyaluronate (NaHA) 15 mg/ml — a long-chain polymer that supplements and restores synovial fluid properties:
