How is Profhilo Structura different from Profhilo?

Profhilo regenerates the skin's structure, while Profhilo Structura works one layer deeper, in the subcutaneous fat. While Profhilo offers options for both the face and body, Profhilo Structura is indicated solely for adipose tissue restoration in facial treatments. It is designed to restore facial structures where age-related changes have caused atrophy in the subcutaneous layer.

How does Profhilo Structura work?

Both Profhilo and Profhilo Structura utilize IBSA Derma's patented NAHYCO technology. This allows for the combination of high and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid without the need for chemical cross-linking agents.

By creating a "cooperative hybrid complex where short and long chains are linked by hydrogen bonds," a high concentration of HA can be achieved "without compromising the ease and safety of procedures." This also makes it more tolerable.

Four key stages of Profhilo Structura production:

1. 45 mg of high molecular weight hyaluronic acid (H-HA) is combined with 45 mg of low molecular weight HA (L-HA).
2. This mixture is then heated using NAHYCO technology, breaking the hydrogen bonds connecting the H-HA molecules.
3. The temperature of the mixture is then lowered, "causing hydrogen bonds to form between the H-HA and L-HA molecules," creating and stabilizing "hybrid cooperative complexes."
4. The result is a new molecule – Profhilo Structura.

How is Profhilo Structura administered?

Profhilo Structura is administered using a cannula.

Injection techniques for Profhilo Structura in cases of facial hollowing and sinking:

Skin with sunken areas often shows thinner skin and tissue density, and increased visibility of the bone structure, particularly around the temples and under the cheekbones.

For these patients, it is recommended that:

Profhilo Structura should be injected into the superficial fat compartment of the preauricular area.
A retrograde injection technique should be used with a 22G x 50mm cannula.
1 ml of product should be used on each side of the face.
The entry point should be 2 cm from the tragus.

How long do Profhilo Structura results last?

Initial treatments involve two sessions, 30 days apart, followed by follow-up visits as needed. Results should last around 4 months.

Assuming these two treatments are carried out as recommended, patients will require a follow-up visit for a potential treatment around 5 months after the first Profhilo Structura treatment.
